Paddlefish team members help biologists protect their namesake

The Pittsburgh Paddlefish dragon boat team derives its name from the paddlefish, the largest freshwater fish in North America, characterized by its long paddle-shaped snout. Unfortunately due to pollution, paddlefish were extirpated from the Allegheny river early in the 20th century, but now steps are being taken by the Fish and Game commission to restore paddlefish to the Pittsburgh waters by restocking the rivers. Paddlefish team member Jim Robertson recounts his experience volunteering with Fish and Game restoration efforts below:
